Pens of Power?

Author: admin2011 | Filed under: featured, News

Yep…that’s exactly what that is. Every action begins with a thought and what better way to get the cerebellum energized than brainstorming.

I know…it’s summer and you’re thinking your brain needs to be on vacation until school starts again. Well the start of school is just around the corner so why not get a jump-start on the new school year by signing up your teen for the ‘Pens of Power‘ writing camp?

Our vision is to use Lyric, Poetry, and Creative writing activities to increase the understanding and usage of literary mechanics. As we build towards becoming an After School Program, We currently offer in-school creative writing workshops for Grades 3-12. These workshops can be served once or ongoing… It’s all up to what you’d like for your youngsters. You tell us what you’d like your young ones to gain from it, and we tailor our workshops to suit your goal.”

Contact us at PensOfPower@gmail.com for details.

Pens of Power writing camp just completed its first week’s free workshop, however if you missed it, there’s another workshop starting next week (Aug. 6-10). I would advise you to ACT NOW and sign up your teen between the ages of 13 to 18. Visit http://pensofpower.org/schedule/ now and register before it’s too late!

Expand your teen’s mind and sign them up for something that will last a lifetime!

Featured Artist, Chino Stringss

My first introduction to Chino Stringss was via artist promotion network, Winning Ods. They sent over the song, “Friends With Benefits”, and being the eclectic music lover that I am, I was instantly in love with the tune long before I saw the artist behind the song.

I was recently introduced to the artist, Chino Stringss, and granted an all-access interview. Come to find out, Stringss is an artist, producer and songwriter. How’s that for multi-tasking? He grew up in Brooklyn, NY and did not become interested in music until a later age when a close friend gave Stringss one of his older guitars. You can say that friend ignited a musical spark that led to Stringss also learning to play the bass, piano and drums.

NeX Radio’s OWN: Shaliek Rivers

Napoleon Hill said, “Before success comes in any man’s life, he’s sure to meet with much temporary defeat and, perhaps some failures. When defeat overtakes a man, the easiest and the most logical thing to do is to quit. That’s exactly what the majority of men do.”

This was not the case for Shaliek Rivers. When his deal with Universal Records didn’t materialize as was supposed, rather than giving in, Shaliek fine-tuned his vocals and took to more learning. What a blessing that turned out to be for all us music fans. In 2011, Shaliek Rivers released his EP titled ‘I Don’t Wanna Be Famous’ and the rest is sure to be history.

Enjoy the music and conversation from the interview I had with Shaliek Rivers during his stop by NeX Radio.
